Meals on Wheels Tehama County provides balanced, nutritious meals to seniors throughout our County. Seniors able to come to one of our senior centers in Red Bluff and Corning enjoy a freshly prepared meal and the companionship of friends. Those who are homebound receive a meal and a daily visit from our drivers, ensuring that they are safe and receive contact with another human being.
Drivers deliver meals to about 90 seniors a day, covering approximately 150 miles in the process. These daily visits are important and help seniors cope with three of the biggest threats of aging: hunger, isolation and loss of independence.
Seniors aged 60 or older are eligible to enjoy a meal. To be eligible for home delivery, the senior must no longer be capable of driving.
In Tehama County we serve a hot lunch to, on average, 150 seniors a day. This video shows the daily routine of the drivers who deliver the meals, interviews of meal recipients and interviews of staff at the Meals on Wheels Program.
